Ten Minute Tuesday

Here is another Ten Minute design using the adorable Happy Halloween set from Chicken Girl Design, available at i {heart} papers. It is on sale right now for a fabulous $7 price!
I stamped on Kraft using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and then embellished with banners, punches, glitter globes and my favorite little flower die from Memory Box: Small Pinwheel Posie. I used the beautiful Lilac Felt for my flower.

Check out all the cute designs in this stamp set, and then head over to IHP to get it while supplies last!

One Layer Sympathy

Today I am sharing a one-layer card --- the hardest kind for me to make!
And a sympathy card at that!

I masked my card and sponged on the beach colors, then stamped my images from Rubbernecker Stamps with Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand inks.
I added a few Kaiser pearls for embellishments.

The sentiment says "May time bring happy memories instead of present sorrows."
I like how calming this is.

Stamps: Rubbernecker Stamps
Paper: Very Vanilla (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, More Mustard, Bashful Blue, Bliss Blue, Tempting Turquoise (Stampin' Up!)
Accessories: Chino Pearls (Kaiser)
Techniques: sponging, masking

I'm the King of New York!

Welcome to "Broadway Bound!" sponsored by Hambo Stamps! Today Hambo customers and the Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you fun creations that depict Broadway show titles! It might be our favorite, or just one that was fun to design. If you arrived here from Loll's blog you are in the right place! If not, you might want to start back at the beginning at the Hambo blog to make sure you are eligible for the hopper prize!

A prize will be awarded to one participant whose Broadway-themed creation tickles the Bacon Bits’ fancy in a hammin’ jammin’ way!  Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper who comments on all of the blogs along the way. The winners will be announced on the Hambo company blog, Talk to the Ham, on Tuesday, September 25. We love comments anytime, but the deadline for prize entry comments is Sunday, September 23 at 5 PM CST. Don't miss it!

This summer my husband and I took a wonderful anniversary trip to New England. One of the highlights was seeing "NEWSIES." That has always been one of my favorite Disney movies and I was thrilled to be able to see the original Broadway cast, and meet most of them after the show!
So, it was a no brainer for what show I would choose for today's hop! NEWSIES!
Newsies is a musical based on the New York City newsboys strike of 1899. The movie came out in 1992 and starred a young Christian Bale (and yes, he sings and dances!), Bill Pullman and Robert Duvall. The Broadway musical just opened in March of 2012.
My Paper Boy is colored in with Copic markers. The Skyline (0433) is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

It was a great day in the sunshine seeing that show. We sat on Row F, right in the center. When they started their first jaw-dropping dance, I just almost burst out crying from sheer joy of the perfection -- and sitting so close made it all that much better!
My favorite song of the show was "I'm the King of New York." It was my favorite in the movie too. Take a look at some of the highlights:

You have officially completed the hop! Be sure to comment on the entire hop route for a chance at a Hambo shopping spree! Thanks for joining us today!

My card today is made using my favorite Flourishes set that i {heart} papers carries: Poppy Patch. There are so many gorgeous, rich autumn papers in this 6x6 pad. The finishing touch is the beautiful flourish (CRW-05CB-153) by Zva Creative. My layers are popped up using the Zva Adhesive Dimensional Squares. I love the different sizes in the dimensionals package! Hopping with Really Reasonable Ribbon!

Welcome to the Really Reasonable Ribbon September Blog Hop!
If you arrived here from Linda's blog, you are in the right place! If you just happened along, be sure to start at the beginning at the RRR Blog (I am the fourth stop, so you don't have far back to go!) so you don't miss out on the awesome projects, fun news, and a prize from Really Reasonable Ribbon! Our hop goes live at 6:30 AM CST.
Each 13th of the month it's the Really Reasonable Ribbon blog hop where we highlight the Ribbon Club! I LOVE Bonnie's choices for the September ribbon club package. If you really love ribbon and would like to have a wonderful assortment of ribbons sent to you automatically each month, just join the Really Reasonable Ribbon Club! Monthly ribbon club assortments are selected and pre-packed to reflect a specific theme, color, or holiday season. The assortments vary from month to month, but an average assortment has 5-8 different ribbon styles and consists of 10-15 yards of ribbon.  You will love it! Take a peek:
My card today is made using Frankie's Girl, one of the adorable Halloween images at Whimsie Doodles. Designer paper is from Basic Grey's Eerie Paper Pad.
I printed her out on X-Press Copic Blending Cardstock and then colored in using these Copics (incl. Clear Spica Glitter and BV29 and E33):
I added some glittery die cuts from K & Co., rolled flowers in black, green, and purple felt, and some of the beautiful black and white ribbon in this month's RRR club assortment. The inside is decorated with a Martha Stewart web punch and more K & Co. glittery goodness:

Now off to BONNIE'S blog, for some amazing inspiration from our fearless leader!

Trick or Treat!

I love Halloween. I think it comes from being in theater and loving to wear costumes and acting like someone else! So it's definitely not too early to be making Halloween cards!

Today I want to show you one of the several new releases at Whimsie Doodles this past week! Each month on the 5th, Melyssa will release her adorable artwork and here is one of the new ones for September:

I LOVE having cute sentiments that are versatile for cards
and packaging and gift items, and these
new Halloween Sentiments 2 surely fit that description!

I printed my sentiment on designer paper (from my LSS who decided to cut off the name and collection - sorry!)
and then added Mint Spica Glitter pen to the letters.
You can see all the sparkle and shine here (click for a close-up!):
I think that last little ghost on the left thinks he is getting pulled along too hard and is trying to keep up with the rest of the group!
The inside sentiment, house, bat and ghosts are by K & Co.
The fence punch is from Martha Stewart.

Here is the simple inside:

Be sure to check out the Whimsie Doodles Store for more ADORABLE images!

A French Garden of Blues

I have always loved the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers. It can be interpreted so many ways and it's fun to see where the inspiration pieces take people on their paper crafting journey. Today's site for inspiration was called French Garden House. I chose this tole painted tray as my inspiration piece and focused on the flowers.
Memento Tuxedo Black ink is my choice for black when coloring with Copics. The Copic Blending Cardstock by X-Press has such a lovely finish and prevents bleeding. Here are the Copics I used on this project today (BG09 and G94 are the Ciaos):
My flowers are from Flourish's With Gratitude set, available at i {heart} papers. After coloring I cut out with a Spellbinders die and added a mat of a larger size with some patterned paper from my stash (Oh my goodness, I have a LOT of paper -- and I love it!).
The pearl flourish is from Zva Creative. I found such a variety of designs in the Everyday Eclectic paper collection and the black and white vintage panel comes from that fun 6x6 pad by Echo Park. it's all held together with i {stick} papers tape and dimensionals from Zva. All those supplies can be found at i {heart} papers! Click on the photo for a close-up!  This card is standard A2 size and opens on the right, like a book.

Double Gate 3x3

Today at Splitcoaststampers, I am challenging Technique Lovers to make a little Double Gate 3x3 card. They are fast and easy to do, and make great little gift enclosures.
Here are the instructions on how to make this:
You will need a double-sided piece of 6x6 designer paper, and whatever you want to embellish the front.

1. Score your 6x6 paper at 1 1/2" and 4 1/2". Fold to the center as a gate fold.
2. Turn your paper sideways and score again at 1 1/2" and 4 1/2". Fold to the center, as a double gate fold.
3. Open up and you have a grid of six squares. Prepare the inside as you wish, but keep it flat. I used a piece of cardstock, designer paper and another piece of cardstock for my sentiment. SEE THUMBNAIL BELOW.
4. Embellish A SEPARATE little design for the front. This piece needs to be unattached to the folded 3x3. Attach with a clip to keep closed. Easy peasy!

Here is a photo of the front design separate with the "card" opened.
My images are from Rubbernecker Stamps: Giraffe and Top to Bottom. The sentiment is cut out with a Spellbinders Circle die and then pierced around the edge. I added some Natural Jute Ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon and Mandarin Baker's Twine from The Twinery, and held it all together with a little orange paper clip. Try it out!

And be sure to check out Rubbernecker Stamps' LABOR DAY SALE! The new website has literally HUNDREDS of awesome accessories and the sale goes through Wednesday! (And be sure to check out that sweet little Giraffe!

Featured Stamper Sunday and Hambo Stamps!

It's Featured Stamper Sunday at Splitcoast today and one of my sweet team mates for Hambo Stamps is this week's honored stamper! Carolina Little has such a fun, creative style, and I was excited to case one of her cards.
My images are Wishing Well and Wishing You Well by Hambo Stamps. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink for the well, and then colored in with Copic markers. The sentiment was then stamped in Blue Bayou ink (I love and miss that color!). Here are the markers I used:
With the Featured Stamper Challenge, you are to change at least two things from the original. I kept the same layout and images, but changed colors, die cut, and added some extra embellishments and layers. My designer papers are from the Sidewalks Collection by October Afternoon and Dots & Stripes by Echo Park (Can you see that striped green layer? I thought it added some whimsy!).
One of my favorite designs that Bonnie carries in the Really Reasonable Ribbon Store is this sweet Floral Satin:
It adds such a nice delicate look to your projects and comes in five beautiful colors: Hot Pink, Daffodil, Aqua, Blue Topaz and Light Orchid. On today's card I used the Aqua Floral Satin, which is my favorite of the five. The other trim I used from Really Reasonable Ribbon is the Hemptique Lime/White Baker's Twine. It comes individually as a spool, or as part of the Tutti Frutti set. I wrapped it around the bottom of my Spellbinders die to accent the lime crocheted flower. Click on the photo for a close-up!

There is a new challenge on the RRR Blog too! It's all about Back to School & Ribbon!

I hope you will come on over to SCS and play along! Congratulations, Carolina!
